Flower power
Just another day in Belgium. Today it was extremely sunny and me, Frida and Alina got up after a eurovision sleepover, to walk around Waterloo. Tomorrow is a public holiday and all the schools have a day off. We're going to enjoy the time we have left here, as there are only a couple of days left until summer break and everyone going back home to their countries.

17 Mai
Gratulerer med dagen! Today is the Norwegian national day and all Norwegians in Belgium came to celebrate it here at the castle. I enjoy learning about other traditions and cultures, and it was fun to take part in 17 mai. The national day is a very important day for the Norwegians and is taken very seriously. Everyone dresses up, usually wearing the traditional "bunad" folk costume, both boys and girls. The dress varies in style and colour according to the place you come from. Then there is a rule that the children get to eat as much is (ice cream) and pølse (hotdogs) as they want to.
Here at the school there was a parade with all the different schools with Norwegian students and an orchestra. The Norwegian ambassador in Belgium held a speech, and the Norwegian king had sent greetings to everyone celebrating 17 mai at the castle. After the speeches there was time to take part in the different competitions like the sack race, potato run and walking on stilts.

Walibi
As we have a four day long weekend from Thursday to Sunday me and Frida went to the amusement park Walibi on Friday. It was a short car ride from Waterloo and a fun way to enjoy the beautiful weather and day off.

SSB day
SSB is a traditional event celebrated at the school. On this day the school is open for the public from 13.00 - 16.00 and anyone interested in visiting can join any of the many different activities. For example there was a bouncy castle, cupcake decorating, football game, karaoke singing, different performances and reading for kids. I was helping out at the chemistry lab where you could try out experiments if interested.
Fête de l'Iris
An electro night was held last night in Brussels with a couple of dj's playing music all night long. The atmosphere was amazing at the event and the music was great. The concert was part of an event called Fête de l'Iris taking place this weekend in Brussels. The event was outside the royal palace in the centre of the city. We had a wonderful time us SSB students and danced with the crowd until it was time to go home.
