Yesterday I spent the day in town with Natalie and Alina. We took the train to Brussels-central which is a 20 minute trip from Waterloo. There we did almost all the things you must do or try when you're in Brussels.
First we walked from Grand Place to Mannikin Pis which is the most famous statue in Europe. Then, since Belgium is the inventor of French fries, which is kinda a misleading name, we had to try them and ate our lunch at the Mannikin Fries. Another famous Belgian food is the Belgian waffle, which is served best with Belgian chocolate in my opinion. They serve waffles all over town and it smells of waffles everywhere. We walked around, shopping and looking at things before going to the Ponti café, which is a really cozy place that serves Belgian coffee and has a great assortment of Barquettes (small baguettes), Ice cream and different desserts.
Brussels is an amazing city because it's so full of life and a lot of happenings everywhere. There are street performances with people playing instruments, singing or doing football tricks for example. A bunch of people walked around with a sign saying "Hug an exchange student today" and offered hugs to everyone they passed. And one time when we visited Brussels there was a boxing match going on outside the La Monnaie De Munt. And on top of that the city is beautiful with its amazing architecture.
